North of the tracks, blighted, underserved, at risk, are all descriptions we have heard about our neighborhood, and most are accurate to some extent. However, after serving here for 10+ years, we would describe it quite differently. What we see are neighbors rich in culture who care for each other when no one else will. We see people, who by no fault of their own, are born into the grips of poverty and all that it encompasses. We see others who have made poor choices and pay dearly as they live out those consequences daily. We see people who, when given a fair chance, have lept at opportunities and run full speed ahead. We have seen people whose lives have been redeemed, transformed, and completely restored and who are now leading others toward that same restoration. There is no place on earth we would rather be than right here in Portie' Town, north Sulphur.
